National Health Care Decisions Day

The Kentuckian Regional Planning and Development agency along with other community partners has worked to get the word out about National Health Care Decisions Day. National Health Care Decision Day takes place each year on April 16th. Although the date has passed it is important to understand the purpose of the day is to shed light on the importance of thinking, talking and taking action on advanced care planning.

If you become unable to make decisions due to a medical emergency, who would you have spoken on your behalf and make medical decisions for you? Have you taken the time to make your wishes know by writing them down and having a Advanced Directive, Living Will or a Health Care Power of Attorney.  KIPDA is encouraging all no matter to age to “Take the Pledge as part of National Health Care Decisions Day and beyond to encourage individuals to have a conversation on advanced care planning.

Provides free resources for advanced care planning, including directives forms for each state.

The Kentucky MOST Coalition represents a state-wide stakeholder group prompting  the “Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment.” The MOST Coalition seeks to transform how Kentucky approaches end-of-life medical decisions by providing education and awareness about the MOST form and advanced care planning.
