Legal Aid Offers Free Assistance

LOUISVILLE, KY—The Legal Aid Society announces dates for free legal clinics offered during the months of October, November, and December of 2016.  Please note some clinics require a reservation in advance. See the RSVP line for each event for reservation information.

  • FORECLOSURE CLINIC
    Tuesday, November 1, at 11:00 AM
    Legal Aid Society office (416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.)
    Attorneys will be on hand to provide advice on loan modifications and alternatives to foreclosure.
    Reservations are not required.
  • ASK A LAWYER CLINIC
    Wednesday, November 2, at 10:00 AM
    St. Vincent de Paul at St. James Church (307 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown)
    Attorneys will be on hand to answer questions about civil legal issues.

  • TENANTS’ RIGHTS CLINIC:  WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOUR LANDLORD’S OBLIGATIONS AND YOUR RIGHTS

    The clinic provides veterans the opportunity to have the following documents created: Will, Power of Attorney, Living Will/Healthcare Surrogate.

  • EXPUNGEMENT CLINIC
    Thursday, November 10, at 1:00 PM
    Louisville Free Public Library (Main Branch, 301 York Street)
    Attorneys will be on hand to discuss the expungement process and provide one-on-one expungement consultations. Attendees are encouraged to bring an unofficial copy of their criminal record that shows the disposition of each case. A copy of the record may be obtained from Court Archives located in the Old Jail Building at 514 West Liberty Street in Louisville.

    The presenter will talk about what one can do if he or she is contacted or sued by a debt collector. The presentation will also cover the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    No reservation needed.
  • DIVORCE CLINIC

    Hardin County. Judicial Center (120 E. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown)
    Clients will receive assistance from attorneys in filling out all of the necessary paperwork to file for a divorce.
